Dr Ian Weisberg: Advancing Heart Rhythm Excellence Along the Emerald Coast

Dr Ian Weisberg is a distinguished Cardiac Electrophysiologist whose career seamlessly blends world-class medical training, technological innovation, and an unwavering commitment to patient-centered care. Known for his leadership in diagnosing and treating complex arrhythmias, Dr Ian Weisberg has been instrumental in elevating the standard of cardiac care across the Florida Panhandle. Originally from Dallas, Texas, he was a standout student-athlete—earning “All Southwest” soccer honors and helping lead The Greenhill School’s tennis team to a National Championship before continuing his academic path at Duke University.

Dr Ian Weisberg laid the academic foundation for his medical career at Emory University, where he earned a B.A. in Economics while fulfilling the rigorous premedical curriculum. His academic performance earned him Phi Beta Kappa honors. He expanded his global perspective through studies at the London School of Economics and the Institute of Italian Studies in Florence, Italy, before returning to Emory for his Doctor of Medicine degree. His education combined scientific precision with a deep-rooted dedication to patient well-being.

His postgraduate medical journey began with an Internal Medicine residency at the prestigious Parkland Memorial Hospital, part of the UT Southwestern system in Dallas. He advanced to a Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Florida in Jacksonville, where he served as Chief Fellow. Further honing his expertise, Dr Ian Weisberg trained in Clinical and Advanced Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Chicago. His focus included AFib ablation, Watchman device implantation, pacemaker and ICD therapy, and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT)—technologies vital to modern arrhythmia care.

In Pensacola, Dr Ian Weisberg made a significant impact by developing the Electrophysiology lab at Gulf Breeze Hospital. His dedication to community health earned him the We Care Doctor of the Year award in both 2012 and 2014. He also made history by becoming one of the first physicians in the U.S. to implant the Biotronik DX ICD, underscoring his role at the forefront of cardiac innovation.

Building on this momentum, Dr Ian Weisberg expanded his mission to Okaloosa County, launching the EP program at North Okaloosa Medical Center and performing complex electrophysiology procedures at HCA Fort Walton-Destin. His work dramatically improved regional access to advanced heart rhythm care.

In 2025, Dr Ian Weisberg founded Emerald Coast Heart & AFib—the first and only clinic in the area dedicated exclusively to the treatment of heart rhythm disorders and AFib. The clinic offers cutting-edge diagnostics and therapies, all delivered with a personalized and compassionate touch.

Beyond the clinic, Dr Ian Weisberg is a devoted father and enthusiastic sports fan, applying the same level of dedication in his personal life as he does in transforming cardiac care. His contributions continue to shape the future of electrophysiology along the Emerald Coast and beyond.
